Q. Can I receive a refund of contributions if I leave or opt-out?
A. Providing you do not pay into a Scheme through the Salary Sacrifice arrangement, then contributions paid into a University Pension Scheme are fully refundable to you (less tax @ 20%), if you have less than 2 years' Qualifying Membership in the Scheme. If you have 2 or more years' Qualifying Membership, then your pension benefits will remain in the Scheme until you retire, unless you choose to transfer your pension to another Scheme.
