Employer Nominated Director of Cambridge University Pension Trustee Limited
The Cambridge University Pension Trustee Limited (CUPTL) was established in August 2008 to act as the trustee of the Cambridge University Assistants’ Contributory Pension Scheme (CUACPS). The CUACPS was established in 1973.
The role of the CUPTL is to govern the CUACPS in accordance with the rules of the scheme and it is assisted with this by the University’s Pensions Administration Section who are responsible for the day-to-day administration of the CUACPS.
The CUACPS has c15,000 members and over £1bn in assets. It is the pension scheme arrangement specifically designed for all members of Support Staff within the University.
The University is seeking applications from senior staff across the collegiate University to serve as an Employer Nominated Director on the CUPTL Board.
This is an important opportunity to contribute to the governance, sustainability and long-term success of the pension scheme that supports our staff community.

- Contribute to strategic oversight of the pension scheme
- Help ensure the scheme is well governed and sustainably managed
- Work alongside trustees, advisers and senior University leaders

Who should apply?
We welcome applications from colleagues across the collegiate University who:
- Hold a senior leadership or management role.
- Have an interest in governance, finance, or pensions.
- Are able to take a strategic and independent perspective.
- Can commit time to board meetings and preparation.
Prior pension experience is helpful but not required. Training and professional support will be provided.
Role commitment:
- 4–5 board meetings per year
- Preparation and review of board papers
- Participation in occasional sub-committee work or strategic discussions
- Generally terms are for 4 years but can be extended after that time.
